The Story Behind the Movement
Shane Dean is the founder of The Good News Post — a global movement helping children aged 4–21 find, write and share good news stories. Before launching the movement, Shane was an award-winning newspaper journalist covering celebrities, politicians, major world events and breaking news stories. His Good News Post project empowers children and young people to become real-life journalists in Good News Rooms in schools — built on kindness, hope, humility, positivity, and aspiration. With the children's belief that all things are possible, young people have gone from interviewing the Prime Minister in Downing Street to meeting the Speaker in Parliament, and engaging with countless inspirational figures — opening doors many never imagined possible. Good News Rooms are already growing across the UK and Africa, with a vision to expand globally. In 2016, Shane launched The Good News Post, a UK-based global online platform sharing uplifting stories and positive news. Shane is also a PR expert, helping people uncover their hidden stories through 'Purple Sheep Thinking' — helping them stand out on TV, in the media, and across digital platforms.
